Vinted Members Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
