Ten sentenced of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of spreading fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the couple's significant age difference.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A circulating unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their lawsuit states that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The two married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
